Q. Does the client have to apply for Food Stamps in person?
A. No. Applications may be filed by mail or another person can be authorized to act as "Authorized Representative."
Q. How long will it take to receive Food Stamps?
A. It may take up to 30 days from the date the application is filed.
Q. Are there any provisions for emergencies?
A. Yes, an applicant may receive Expedited Food Stamps within 5 calendar days if sh/she is Food Stamp eligible and:
- The household has less than $100 in cash and other available resources and has or will have less than $150 in gross income during the application month
- Income and available resources are less than rent or mortgage, plus heat, utilities, and phone
- Homeless
- Migrant or seasonal farm worker
