The fees specified are payable in advance. Black Ink should be used on all documents presented for recording.

CPLR 8019(b) - Legible copies - Whenever a paper or document presented to a county clerk for filing or recording is not legible or otherwise suitable for copying or recording by the photocopying process, the county clerk may require a legible or suitable copy thereof along with such paper or document and the same fees shall be payable for the copy as are payable for the paper or document.


We will adhere to the following requirements:


1. If a deed refers to a map, the map must have been already filed or is to be filed simultaneously with the deed.


2. Deeds and mortgages must have the addresses of all parties.


3. Maps must be presented upon linen or mylar. Sub-division maps must be approved by the

Town Planning Boards and also have endorsed thereon the certification of the County Treasurer that all taxes levied have been paid.


4. Effective January 1, 1999, this County will require a "cover page" shall be attached to all documents recorded by the County Clerk. Said "cover page" shall become legal part of the document at the standard per page fee as established in section 8021(a)4a of the Civil Practice Law and Rules. The cover page is produced by the County Clerk


5. Checks should be make payable to the Herkimer County Clerk for the exact amount.
